Olmert - A Study in Delusion

At least I hope he's deluded. Because if he's not, I can only conclude that he's consciously planning Israel's collapse.

Let me back up for a second. I spent the day working on a freelance project, writing a funding proposal for a school in Kiryat Shmona that absorbed three direct katyusha hits during the recent Lebanon war. The proposal described a range of projects designed to bring the lives of the school's 1000-plus students back to normal, while acknowledging that the trauma these kids lived through - months in shelters, the destruction of homes, and the experience of fleeing the north for temporary shelters in other cities - can't be erased by philanthropy.

In the meantime, on the news, Ehud Olmert is making sweeping offers to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, saying - no, begging - that if they'll only honor the 2-day-old cease fire (violated almost immediately by the Palestinians who've sent 13 rockets into Israel today), Israel will respond with major land concessions (what, Gaza itself wasn't a big enough experiment), as well as the release of many security prisoners, and a laundry list of other goodies.
